Sometimes it may feel as if the weight of the world is on your shoulders. And it is too heavy. And you reel under this burden trying to cope the best you can. And it seems to keep getting heavier.
Ask yourself objectively what is it that you gain by carrying this so called "burden"?
Nothing. Nothing - EXCEPT - SYMPATHY.
Sympathy from others. Sympathy from yourself.
And it feels good to receive this sympathy, doesn't it?
The reality is - There is no weight. There is no burden. There is nothing to carry.
The only thing there is - is your mind making up these stories of weight & burden. But it is difficult to let go of this. Why? Because letting go of this means letting go of the sympathy you have been receiving. It may be sympathy only from yourself. But even that is very addictive. Maybe more addictive than sympathy from others, nevertheless very addictive.
Letting go means letting go of the reminders of hurt - not the hurt itself because the hurt has long gone and all you are holding on to is the memory of that hurt.
Letting go means choosing lightness - but lightness also means feeling free and that is scary. You don't know what you would do with that freedom.
Letting go means choosing to connect with the love within - but that love is liberating and not possessing. And that is scary because you realize that this love is for no one and no one will reciprocate this love; this love does not reciprocate.
But then ask yourself - if you would be addicted to something - do you want to be addicted to a heavy burden or to the lightness of love?
Choose love.
